Our warmwater trips present clients with the opportunity to catch many different species of fish. This is not the trip for a beginner. We are dealing with wild fish in these streams and you generally only get one shot at a fish. Due to lack of put in locations and tight streams we do not offer float trips for warmwater. Here are some of the species that we target.
We also offer trips on local lakes. On these lakes we can target any warmwater species but focus is on carp and bass primarily. Give us a call to find out more on these trips.
The Smallmouth Bass is a ferocious predator. In the streams we fish they are typically found up to 4 lbs. These fish are a blast on topwater flies!
The Largemouth Bass and its cousin the Spotted Bass are also frequently caught in the same streams as the Smallmouth. The Largemouth can grow to around 6 lbs in these streams.
Redeye or Rock Bass are also referred to as Black Perch. These can make a slow day a lot of fun if you can find a school of them. They will readily take any type of crayfish pattern and can grow to near 2 lbs.
During the “dog days” of summer the bass and other species we target do well early in the mornings and late in the evenings so to keep the action going we turn to a few species that most anglers don’t typically target.
Gar, carp, and freshwater Drum can be a lot of fun on the fly!
Gar can grow to nearly 5’ in length.
The Drum and Buffalo in these local streams can weigh in excess of 10 lbs. They are not easily fooled but when they are you’ve got a fight on your hands!
